Considerations to deploy large venue Wi-Fi with CW9179-Award Winning AP

CW9179F is the industry’s first enterprise-grade, Wi-Fi 7 certified high-density access point, made specifically for connecting large public venues. This convertible indoor/outdoor AP can be deployed as per the need in environments like stadiums, arenas, airports.

Critical Items to be considered

  • Venue/Event Planning
  • Coverage Planning
  • Capacity Planning
  • Wireless Configuration (WLC or Cloud)
  • Wired network infrastructure

Venue/Event Planning

Things to consider as follows-

  • Device Count/concurrent devices
  • Determine high-density areas
  • Determine critical applications and its bandwidth requirements (Download and upload)
  • Determine clients per AP/per radio
  • Determine client distribution (legacy vs Wi-Fi 6/6e vs Wi-Fi 7)

Coverage Planning

Things to consider as follows-

  • Complete Predictive RF design to determine potential AP location/count
  • Complete walkthrough and determine antenna type to be used/ antenna mounting directions
  • Consider RF attenuating agents with a full packed venue
  • Validate expected throughput is achieved for applications to be used
  • Identify RF interfering sources in the environment

Capacity Planning

Things to consider as follows-

  • Complete Predictive RF design to accomodate peak client capacity
  • Validate expected throughput is achieved with peak client capacity

Per Radio Planning

2.4 GHz (Slot 0)

  • Minimize usage for 2.4 GHz, enable 2.4 GHz only on the radios where legacy clients are expected
  • Ensure only non-overlapping channels are used and our assigned dyanmically via RRM
  • Remove low legacy data rates

5 GHz (Slot 1/2)

  • Enforce band steering to steer 5 GHz capable clients to 5 GHz radio
  • Ensure DCA and DBS drive channel and channel width decision
  • Validate channel plan/client distribution
  • Ensure TPC drives tx power decision
  • Ensure cell overlap is optimum to ensure smooth roaming

6 GHz (Slot 3)

  • Enforce band steering to steer 6 GHz capable clients to 6 GHz radio
  • Ensure DCA and DBS drive channel and channel width decision
  • Validate 6 GHz channel plan/client distribution
  • Confirm 6 GHz security requirements

Wireless Configuration

  • Disable low legacy data rates
  • Minimize number of WLANs (3-4 WLANs)
  • Configure WPA2/WPA3 security and validate operation
  • Validate Captive Portal operation for Guest WLAN
  • Ensure AFC server is configured for SP mode operation for 6 GHz radio
  • Validate 802.11 r/k/v behavior

Wired Network Infrastructure

  • Ensure DHCP lease configuration and IP address pool capacity
  • Validate IP address assignment with peak client count
  • Validate authentication capacity with peak client count
  • Validate AP uplinks and switch interconnections are 10G ports
  • Validate PoE capacity
